I'm sorry, I know it's been brought up before, but this problem really has been bothering me for way to long. I have suse 9 and I've got the module compiled. I've also got two cards based off this chipset the Linksys WPC11 rev 4 and the Netgear MA521 I also have a Linksys AP which has been left alone from the default. I get the module loaded and get all the setting are set to my network (ie: ssid2scan=linksys) but when I enable it, the nic (both) just blink and blink but when I do a dhcpcd wlan0 I get nothing, so run the ./wlandown script and then all HELL breaks loose and my system locks up. I've tried several different configuration in the Makefile and I've even trying useing different versions of the driver but I still get the same thing.
Suse 9 on a HP pavilion ze1230 with a netgear ma521
Any clues would be nice I just don't know why it's doing it
So you have two NICs in the same system? Try moving them to different slots. You could be having a PCI bus mastering problem. This happens when two bus mastering devices are on the same PCI bus and are both requesting the bus or an IRQ at the same time, and since they are both bus masters, the both get the bus. This can cause system locks and other such instabilities. Try moving the cards around to other slots and/or disabling sound and other non-essential peripherals in the BIOS until you have the cards installed and functioning correctly.
No, I have the two nics but not in at the same time (that would be silly, I mean my laptop wouldn't even allow it) so that's not even the problem. what I mean is I have tried both nics (one at a time) with a reboot between switching them out
Just an up-date, I decided to take the easy road and send the Ver 4 in to Linksys and get a Ver 3 and the Netgear is going to my Girl (who runs windows) so I guess this thread is dead.
