R8169 and fedora

Hello,

I just had installed Fedore Core 1 on my PC (MSI motherboard for Intel 865). Everything is Ok except the NIC.
The onboard NIc is a Realtek 8169.
Fedora installer first recognize the NIC, but it stops here.
I manually try a few actions like reconfiguring the NIC and modifying the r8169 driver witht he one on the mobo CD, but the results is the same:
Cannot get driver information.

When I check with lspci -v, the card is recognized with all parameters (IRQ, I/0, adresses).
As it is not possible to get an IP from my router (dhcp function included), I modified the IP of the network device manually, but same result. I can ping to my NIC card address (as I can ping to the loopback interface), but I cannot ping to the router address.

I try as well to disable the firewall function of linux and set by hand IRQ, MEM and IO information on the NIC. Same results. Still this error:
"Cannot get driver information" and no possibility to go further than the NIC itself.

Last point, there is no problem on the hardware nor the cable, as Windows (in dual boot) works Ok with the network.

If someone can share some hints/solutions with me, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your help!

Do you use

# redhat-config-network-gui

?

Is your device listed under hardware?

Thanks for your reply.

Yes I use this GUI as well, and the card is listed with a status = Ok.

By the way, one more question. If I delete this entry, and want to add another one, my card do not appear in the dropdown list of card choice. Do you know how to populate this list?

Anything I can do only a result in the same way:
"Cannot get driver information" .
So is it really a driver problem ? and if where can I find something working? I try a few, with any success...

Best regards
