Quick (maybe) Samba Question.
Hi again.
I just ran an upgrade from SE9.2 to 9.3 My XP workgroup clients now see this machine listed with a long and inconvenient comment line that reads: Samba 3.0.1.13-1.1-Suse (ns1) I'm not running a domain. This box is the preferred Browse Master. And, No, it wasn't like this before. other SE9.2 boxes here show the correct comment. (which is none - comment = <nl>) This string is NOT being set in /etc/samba/smb.conf or any includes that I can see. greps in /etc ,/etc/sysconfig/, /etc/rc.d and usr/local/samba don't spot it. BTW, If I change 'server string' in /etc/samba/smb.conf, then the name change shows on the clients after a restart. ex. Samba 3.0.1.13-1.1-Suse (fixme) But, changing the 'comment' entry has no effect. So. it's getting set sometime after smb.conf is read? Anybody know, or wanna guess where this string is set? Thanks. |
Post your smb.conf file so that we can have a look at it.
