Quick and dirty tutorial on networking?

Can someone point me in the direction of a good "Quick and dirty" tutorial on networking with linux? I'm basically setting up a small home network for a friend with three XP Pro machines, and need to convert one of these into a dev-box running redhat 7.2. He also wants to throw his Apple (OSX) laptop into the mix, so any advice on that would be advantageous.

Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand what it is that you are looking for here.
What are you trying to do, specifically?

Set up a small network with with 2 windows xp boxes, a linux box (probably redhat or slackware), and a mac (running OSX). Might even add an older mac (running OS9, if he can be bothered to format and re-install it). We need to be able to browse the network from all the machines. I've created windows shares before and then connected to them using Samba (mount -t smbfs //host/share etc), but this isn't acceptable - we need to view every machine's files from the other machines.

Any rough-guides or quick setup tutorials out there?
