Question on upnp

Hey guys,

I would like to open some ports on my router via upnp.

Scenario: I have a range of ports that I use in rtorrent (picks 1 randomly), and when it selects the ports, I would like to run a client which would send a upnp request to my router which would forward the appropriate port.

(UPnP aware applications already do this, i.e. Transmission, Ktorrent)

I'm trying to find a solution that would implement this, however I've really only found one:

-- requires JRE

I'd rather not install the JRE if I don't have to. (Takes forever to compile )

I also found, MiniUPnPc, but I don't think it would work, it sounds like this would need to be installed on a server acting as a router/gateway:

Does anyone else have any suggestions or experience in this matter? I would appreciate any input!

upnpc is exactly what I was looking for! i.e. forward a port like so:

upnpc -a 192.168.1.2 22 3333 TCP

I installed miniupnpc from slackbuilds
