Pure-ftpd closes connection after 10 minutes of upload

Hello ...

BTW is pureftpd.org still supported . Emails come back from their list servers.

Here is the situation

With Fedora v6.0
and
Using Pure-ftpd v 1.0.21 .
************************************
I am
Using Virtual users
Using pure-uploadscript
and
No restrictions on FTP User (unlimited kb up etc)
************************************
Here is what happens .

Files will Upload for exactly 10 minutes and then stop.

Explaination given to FTP Client "Connection closed by host"
Explanation given by Pure-ftpd : Jul 18 16:22:04 dl12 pure-ftpd: () [INFO] Timeout (no new data for 900 seconds)

I have tried it with 3 upload clients and all 3 demonstrate the same behavior. I have also tried another remote compute using pure-ftpd with virtual users and pure-uploadscript disabled .. same

Thank you for any help

Sincerely,

Jack Mullen

exactly 10 minutes? but that's 600 seconds... 15 minutes is 900 seconds. is the ftp server right then? has there been any new data for that length of time? from what you've posted everything would initially look to be behaving exaclty as it is supposed to.

10 minutes

Yes: 10 minutes .. 600 seconds.

I received a reply from someone on the pure-ftpd list that this issue is under investigation. The server is not handling the idle time setting properly and also it does not remove the idle time counter when an upload begins. Hence after 10 minutes it times out.

I am still waiting for a solution. It would seem that examining the code would quickly resolve the issue.

Thanks for the reply

Jack
