you need to read the manpage for curl and wget to learn how to use proxies with them, it's totally basic stuff, and just part of the program. essentially they will use the http_proxy environmental vairble if it exists, e.g. "http_proxy=http://myproxy:8080"

First of all, thanks for your answer. I'll try your tip, but do u know if there is a "main configuration" that allow to config all programs in transparent way, such as you don't have to change the config to all programs.

Thanks really much, antonello

no there isn't unfortunately. this was asked fairly recently, and i think the closest i could suggest was to use iptables to intercept outbound port 80 traffic and point it at a local copy of squid. squid can then be configured to hold a user name and password for upstream authentication. if you don't need to authenticate then you should be able to use a simpler proxy, like tinyproxy, which is very simple to configure.

"global" settings are normally configured in a per desktop environment way. firefox for example operates at a very high level of abstraction on a system, whilst wget operates down at the very guts of a shell, to the best of my knowledge there is no way to actually set a proxy across everything, unless you have a toold i'm unaware of which will simply set each known location at each layer seperatly for a proxy.
