Proxy and Dial up in Linux

Hi all,

I use a dial up conneciton to the internet, I dial via Kppp which is a pppd frontend for KDE

now I want to use internet through a proxy server, where do I setup the proxy server., actually I want to run a single shell application which I want to use through the proxy, how do I do this.

Can I change proxy servers while the connection is established. YUou can do this in Windows, so I think in linux you should be able to!
