Question Proxies?!?

I just installed Linux Mandrake 8.2 yesterday and I am unable to connect to the internet through Linux. I am connected to a collegge LAN network. I attempted doing the autodetect option but that didn't work either, so I attempted the manual one. Only problem is, I don't know the HTTP and FTP proxies. How am I to go about getting those? Thanks!

Well, easy... Since ure connecting tru a college LAN, try the college LAN ppl.
Else take over some M$ pc nearby and open up the proxy.pac file (if any) or find the settings in their browser.
And try to be a bit more creative ok.
