problems with JPG-picture files

I have a Linux RedHat ver 9 with samba, acting as a server on my windows WP network. On my XP computer i have some JPG-picture files. When i copy those files to the samba server i can no longer read the files. They seames to be corrupted in some way. Does anyone have any idea whats wrong. (This problem does not applie to all picture files, it is pictures from a digital camera)

Digital Camera images are JPEGs with extra information (EXIF format) and it may just be that the program you are trying to view them with dislikes EXIF information (although the GIMP shouldn't have a problem. It is also possible that your camera is saving the images in some non-standard way, although then they should still be unreadable in XP. Try transferring an image on floppy or CD-RW to check whether it is the network transfer or the digital image itself at fault.
