problems in getting connected to the net


hi everyone


am experiencing a strange sort of problem in my fedora core 3 , x86 arch system , i cant get connected o the net from my linux interface , to make the the problem worse it gets connected to the net the next time i log in , without any changes made in the configurations , this intermittent behavour is making me difficult to round of the problem .. can any one help me on this ...

With a little more descriptive information, someone could probably help you. How are you trying to connect? What equiptment are you using? What distribution of Linux are you running .... ?

Hi
I am using Fedora Core 3
I connect to the internet using ethernet card
I am able to ping the gateway once....Now if I restart the comp I am unable to ping...........But if I reboot again and try, it pings.............It happens recursively without any changes made to the Configuration.
I am unable to figure out the solution to the proble

It could be a hardware problem.

It works without any problem in WindowsXP.

when it does not work

then post the O/P of

route -n

ifconfig

and the contents of the file

/etc/resolv.conf

if u can also include how u r getting authenticated....

thanks a lot of Masand for your help.I finally got my problem solved,something similar to this.
I had reinstalled RH9.0,selected the static IP's instead of the DHCP at the installation.reinstalled the client and gave the configuration details..
You were right when you said that the client was not authenticating in my case..
