problemes from the internet

i have a computer on my network who is receiving data from the net. I closed the computer, but the trafic is still there.
Is there a way to stop the trafic, or to find out from what ip i get it?

thank you

Could you please tell us if you have a router, firewall, VPN, ADSL, Cable modem, using a share ware -p2p system. FTP running.
Have you downloaded anything from a site called Gator or simular?

Maybe we narrow the serch going from there.....

Our network is like this:

ISP<---->cable modem <---->linux computer<------>our network

we have i firewall but is only checking the mac addresses of the computers and collects data for traffic monitoring.

There is an other linux computer with a ftp server, but i don't know if this helps...
There are no p2p programs.

No Gator downloads.

I hope this answers your questions...

have you tried running a netstat? How are you sure there is data coming from the internet? Do a tcpdump? Snort?

How do you know you are receiving data?

Just a point your cable modem downstream light will almost definitely constantly flash at various rates such is the Internet.
