Problem with Windows xp printing to redhat smb printer - not authenticating?

I cant seem to print from my Windows xp to a redhat 9 smb printer. The page to be printed just sits in the printer queue in Windows XP. To get it to work, I have to delete the documents, delete the printer and reinstall it. It then will work only for that session. Upon reboot, I cannot print from Windows xp to redhat 9 smb printer again unless I go through the steps above. If I try to print from a Linux host to the redhat 9 smb printer, I have no problems. Its just from Windows xp to redhat 9. I think, Windows xp is not authenticating properly and so redhat 9 is refusing the connection. I cant seem to understand this. The redhat 9 machine has a smb share of a windows folder which I can access automatically even after a reboot. It just fails on the printer. Any ideas? Thanks.

By the way I have the same user and password for the Windows xp and the samba server.

Figured it out. A user name change in Windows XP Control Panel does not really change the actual user name on the user account. It only apparently changes the DISPLAYED user name. (This seems stupid as the point of changing the user name is not just aesthetics). I had changed the username in Windows XP in order to automatically authenticate with Samba. As I have found out, the original name is still used for network transactions. There is really apparently no way to change the username for a windows xp account. To get around this, I had to create a new user /password with the same user/password as was enabled in the samba server and migrated all my documents and settings to this new account. I then deleted the old account. Now I can access the samba shares automatically (disk and printer share).
