Problem with Suse 10 DHCP Server config
I`m fairly new to linux so please bear with me !
Having a bit of a problem with a new installation of Suse10 It`s a new linux box that I`m trying to use as a router for the rest of my network. Everything has gone fine until I`m trying to configure a DHCP server. The minute I attempt to launch the DHCP Server config in Yast, while loading the environment variables it throws a dialog reporting the following: ERROR : unable to resolve hostname of and that`s it ! Any idea what exactly it`s trying to resolve and why ? The configuration just quits at this point so I`m a little in the dark. Any help much appreciated. |
Suse 9.2 had a problem where you had to install the DNS server as well as the DHCP server, even if you don't want to use it. Something to do with the DHCP server needing a resolv.conf file that didn't exist until you enable the DNS server.

Cheers matey - but I`ve sussed it !
Seems that although Yast reports that a default hostname (i think it was "linux") had been assigned, runnin "Hostname" reported nothing. Soon as I set a hostname for the machine DHCP config worked fine. Sorted ! Many thanks though. W. |
