Problem with Suse 10.0 and Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Network Card
I have a dual boot system (Suse 10.0 and Windows XP Pro). My motherboard is an Albatron PX915G Pro, which has a Marvell Yukon Gigabit Ethernet Network Card (Marvell MV8001) on it.
My problem is this: When I boot in Suse my network card works fine, but in Windows I get a message that the cable is not connected to the card.
I figured out that the problem is originated on how Suse stops network services: When it stops these services during shutdown, it probably does something on the motherboard that does not allow Windows to switch on the netwotk card (I can enable or disable the card in Windows, but its light that indicates operation does not turn on).
I can solve this problem by either unplugging the power supply or by using a switch on the back of the ATX case to completely power down the motherboard.
I would be allright with that, but the problem is that if I do this all the BIOS settings go back to default (even date and time) and I have to change them every time I do this.
Does any one know how to make Suse not to completely power down the network card?
Thanks!
