I found it was, even tried turning off iptables for a while. Once I added the entry to hosts.allow it worked. You want to keep hosts.allow as restrictive as you can, only allow what needs to be allowed.

Again a new problem araise..

Now I have got SNMP to work on localhost, but when I am trying to access SNMP from a host across the network I dont get any response from snmpwalk, when im running a portscan port 161 is not responding.

I have configured the snmpd.conf to use community key public and source is set to default. The firewall is set to
Code:
 iptables -A INPUT -p udp --dport 161 -j ACCEPT
and the hosts.deny file is empty..

I think it might be a configuration problem on snmpd? anyone?
