Problem with PPPoE in transperant squid

I have configured transperant squid in my linux box with 2 NICs. eth0 is connected to internet and eth1 is connected to my laptop. I configured it as gateway so that i can ping both of the lan cards. But when i am dial pppoe from my laptop i am not able to connect. So plz anyone tell me how can i make this work so that i can use transperant squid for my clients with pppoe.

Hi, I use squid with a firewall (iptables) to secure and regulate my home network too.

There is no need for the laptop to dial out.

Just connect the client via eth.

only the server dials out.

There is a site that I would highly recomend to you and anyone who wishes to set up a proxied fire wall.

http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/w...ess_with_Squid

I'm sure you'll do well no matter what *nix you use.

Cheers, Glenn

Thanks Glan for your quick reply. But my purpose to install squid is to get log for my clients. I dnt want them to knw they are being watched so i want them to dial out through my transperant squid server so that i can get log.

Is it possible ????

Yes, squid has a few companions, like squish, and MRTG (which I use)

both are monitoring progs, with different agendas.

MRTG displays graphs of each interface via http (in a browser) if you configure it to do so.

See how you go.

Cheers, Glenn
