Problem with mail server

I need to setup a file and mail server.
I have installed a fresh Linux Suse 10.0 + sendmail + fetchmail.
If I try
telnet <ipAddress> 25
it works, an I can compose a message.
But
telnet <ipAddress> 110
gives error: cannot connect.

Could you help me (my first installation of a mail server) to debug this error?
Thank you.

I think you will find that sendmail and fetchmail are SMTP programs whereas port 110 is POP3. You need a POP3 deamon for this to work.
