check inetd service.

Hi ,

well the first thing to do is check if the pop service is running ?
check the /etc/inetd.conf file and uncomment the pop or imap field ( u can have both or either ... depending on ur preference). You will need to restart the inetd service after u make changes in the file for effect to take place.

I assume u dont have a firewall in place if so then maybe u should check the firewall rules as well.

regards,
xanthium.

Re: problem with mail server

hai Xanthium ,

Thanks for ur sugesstion.

i alleady checked the option and pop3 service is running.
As i had told i had configured masqurading on it. i had configured Ipfirewall rules but this is done quite long back and is working fine .But this problem happened very recently.last change i had made in the firewall configuration is i had given an entry for for host to enable him to onnect to internet.

One more important thing is when users are receiving messages sent from linuxbox, but they are not receiving messages sent form windows machines.

please help me if u can

regards

praveen
