hey all- im running redhat 9 on my laptop as a dual boot with xp pro and when i go to turn off or restart redhat, the computer stalls at "unloading Kernal Card Services". anyone know whats goin on and how to fix that? thanks...
i was thinking it had to do something with my /etc/modules.conf~ file. in the modules.conf file i had to comment out some lines of code to boot up the system....im thinking i would have to comment out the lines in the modules.conf~ file also in the same manner. only problem is that i am not able to modify the file no matter what i do by setting proper permissions.
typically, an identically named file with the tilde "~" at the end is a backup of the original file made by some script or program before it wrote a new file, check the dates/times on the files to see if this is true.
about the pcmcia unloading thing, have you browsed your /var/log/messages file to see if anything relevant has been put there that might give a clue? also, maybe you should post the lines in your /etc/modules.conf that you commented out.
