Problem setting up connection

I'm new to linux and just decided to try out Mandrake 10 partitioned to dual boot with windows XP. I have Comcast high speed internet that works fine with XP but I just can't seem to get it working with Mandrake's connection manager. Heres what I've done.

First off I went into ipconfig/all in windows to get all my IP information.

Then I went into the Mandrake connection manager thing. I went to New Connection > Cable > eth0 realtek|RLT-8139 > DHCP Auto IP. Then under Assign DGCP hostname I entered the hostname in ipconfig, noted that under advanced I'm doing DHCP-client, then I entered my optional hostname on the next step (same as the DHCP hostname on the last step) , then I entered my zeroconf name (incidentally the same as the other two). Reset the network, and no connection working.

So I go to manage connections and tried a few things there. I tried to set it on both DHCP and Static using the following in each field
IP - My IP address
Netmask - Subnet Mask
Gateway - Default Gateway

Still not working so I went to Internet access.
Hostname: My hostname as said above twice
DNS Servers: I entered 2 of the 3 since only 2 were listed under IPconfig.

Tried connecting through Monitor connection and it tells me to verify configuration.

So I tried unplugging my modem for a few minutes, rebooted, and ran linux... During the boot I got a message after Intializing eth0 failed really quickly that said something about IP Configuration siocsifflags not implemented. It went by really fast so I wasnt able to catch all of it but thats the gyst of it.

If anyone could help me out I'd much appreciate it. Remember I'm new to Linux so don't start using too many complicated words with me. I just wan't to know how to set up my internet connection. If I havent listed it here then I probably haven't tried it. Thanks in advance.

You guys can move this to the forum if it belongs there I'm kinda new around here too.

What kind of modem are you using, and how is it connected, I see the Realtek adapter, but you aren't using USB, are you?

Most likely what you want to use is PPPoE, if this is the only computer hooked up to the modem.
