problem installing ns2


had a complete view of all data available on net to install ns2,but just cudnt sucessfully install it.kindly help me out.

till lk,it all worked fine,problem arises in this part otcl that i mentioned.i gave the following command-
CC=gcc-4.3 CXX=g++-4.3 ./install

im using ubuntu 10.04

That implies it is looking for a command named "gcc-4.3@" which might be a bug in the Makefile. Presumably the command would be "gcc" or maybe even "gcc-4.3" but not likely "gcc-4.3@" Also "not found" often means it isn't in the PATH variable so after you find out the real name of the command be sure the PATH variable includes it's directory. Here I don't think issue is the PATH but rather the Makefile as noted above.

To check PATH type "echo $PATH". If gcc is in /usr/bin then make sure you see "/usr/bin" separated by colon from other entries on the line. (e.g. /bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin

Welcome to LQ.

Very simple : sudo apt-get install g++-4.3

.. providing /usr/bin/gcc-4.3 , /usr/bin/g++-4.3

And it is correct, that compiling otcl-1.13 with gcc-4.3
is considered to be the proof method.
