pppd loopback detected error 17


i am trying to make teracom evdo/cdma usb modem work in arch (x86_64).

gatherd from internet i first

Code:
$ whoami

$ eject /dev/sr1 # /dev/sr1 contains setup for win/mac
$ ls /dev/ttyUSB*

i have no idea what this error means ? isnt there anywhere, where the errors are explained in detail.

ok i got it.

the error means the modem echoing everything back.

in my case, getting its dev file (ttyUSB3) is not enough. it has to be initialize too. so i startup virtualbox, intialize and connect there, stop virtualbox. wvdial. done. i have succussfully tried this method with micromax 352g too.
