ppp0 interface setup

Hi,

I need a ppp0 network interface. Can anybody tell me an easy way to set up this.
My possibilities are:
NULL modem cable between COM1 and COM2
2 U2IrDA devices which appears to working.
but the best wold be without any additional device.
