PPP problem on Slackware 10.2

Hello.

I'm having a problem with my ppp connection. I use dialup with callback and everything just works fine, my system connects, pppd is active, but when i try to load some page in any web browser they act, if there were no connection. The funny thing is that in previous versions (Slack 10.0, 10.1) it worked fine with the same confugiration.

People, please help! I wannna be online again!

Make sure your network is working with:

ping localhost

Then try pinging a website (one that doesn't block pings!) by IP address. For example, to ping www.linuxquestions.org:

ping 64.179.4.146

This will tell you whether or not you've actually got Internet connection.
If that works, try:

ping www.linuxquestions.org

If the numerical ping works and the one by name does not, then you have DNS problems.

Post back with results if you need more help.

Cool

Suggestion: Check YOUR browser configuration for "Direct Connection to the Internet". Click on "edit", "preferences", "general", "connection settings", "direct connection". Save and exit. IF using a dial-up application, make sure the modem is using the dial-up numbers for V-90 or V-92. They are different technologies and require different dial-up numbers. Go to the ISP web site and make two lists.
