I too want to setup a mail server like DKY. I also have an acount with no-ip.. I still am throughly confused through your guys' discussions. I am using Mandrake 9.1 and have the drakwizard setup my PostFix. Though I do not know where to go from there. Any help from either DKY or the Master him self would be much appreciated.
PS. DKY I hope you are not as confused as I am....
I forgot to let you guys know that my ISP blocks port 25 due to spamming... So I also wanted to know if there was a way to tell postfix to not run the smtp server on 25 but rather 2525 or something like that. Thanks..
I went into the logs after sending an email to a yahoo account I got an error message that said host not found for the smtp server. I followed what you guys said about setting up your host name as smtp.me.no-ip.org. The error was type=A: Host not Found... I am a linux newbie as you can see.

Tell ya what, I'm going to split this post out into it's own and then move it to Networking
That'll help you TONS with this kind of question as it should be asked in it's own thread being a seperate issue, kind of
Thanks for the "split". I hope I can understand this stuff.. But trying to find understandable docs is tough... Espeically if you're a windows based user.
I've been looking around for an answer to this, seems to be possible using a firewall (IPTables) redirecting ports instead of dropping them. However, with any luck, someone following up on this will give you a better idea of how it's done.
