postfix


hi there,

I'm trying to setup my mail server at the moment but when i send a email from my mail server it comes from

user@mail.example.com

i just want it to come from user@example.com

can someone help me out with this

/etc/hosts

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
192.168.0.254 mail mail.fedora.directory.server

/etc/postfix/main.cf

myhostname = mail.fedora.directory.server
mydomain = fedora.directory.server

Its probably the main.cf parameter "myorigin" that you need to set to "example.com".

If that doesn't work, have a look at postfix.org, but off the top of my head another thing to try would be to use a "generic" map for this. Something like

smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/generic

in main.cf, and /etc/postfix/generic has an entry like:

@mail.example.com @example.com

Don't forget to

postmap generic

to create the db
