portmap did not install (why not?)

Today I was looking into setting up NFS so I could share my mp3 partition of my hd over the network. So I checked out the NFS HowTo and followed the instructions. I downloaded the latest nfs-utils from sourceforge (v1.0.1), and followed the directions for installing. Everything went fine, no errors reported. However, portmap was not installed.

My kernel (2.4.19) is configured for NFS.
/etc/exports /etc/hosts.deny and /etc/hosts.allow are correct.
mountd, nfsd, statd, lockd, and quotad are all available.

Just portmap is missing, and I can't figure out why. I've thoroughly searched the forums here, Google, and the forums at Linuxnewbie. I ran updatedb and did a locate portmap (I figured even if it was named rpc.portmap it would still show) which returned two results:

/lib/modules/2.4.18/modules.parportmap
/lib/modules/2.4.19-lq3/modules.parportmap

Any help is greatly appreciated because at this point I can't see any reason why portmap would not have installed. I considered trying an older version of nfs-utils but the previous version was updated over a year ago. Any recommendations?
