pop (Port 25) problems

I have configured my redhat linux machine to work as a pop3 server. It was working fine but I'm now getting a error message that says,

error while performing operation: could not connect to 204.17.66.170 (port 25): connection refused

can anyone help me.

pop usually runs on port 110, smtp runs on 25 - I think that is your problem.

like david_ross pointed out POP uses port 110. do you mean SMTP (= port 25) ?

SMTP is for mail delivery to other servers/users. POP is for retrieving mail ...
