Point to point connectivity between 2 pcs

Dear forum members

I would like establish a point to point connectivity using PPP ( PPP client - server pair) between 2 remote machines using modem.( Remote Access Server). After establishing the connectivity thru PPP, I would than like to manage the remote server / file transfer ( ftp) / telnet. In short, I would like to establish remote connectivity between 2 pc.

Please help as to how should I proceed to achieve my goals. Any new ideas for achieving the same

Any pointers in this direction will be of great help.
