Pocket PC 2003 and Samba 3
Hi, I try to connect my iPaq pda (OS = WM2003se v4.21) with my samba (v3.0.20b-3.3) file server.
Sadly this does not work. I every time get the message:
Quote:
"Cannot map network path. Network resource cannot be found or you do not have permission to access the network. Contact you network administrator."

The samba box is not shown in the list ‘computers near me’ so I can’t select the share but have to type the path like: \\server.home\share or \\192.168.0.1\share.
I am not prompted to enter my username and password before I get the error message.
After searching the web I see this question first appears in April 2004!
Several solutions are given but they do not work:
1. Change the security from ‘user’ to ‘share’ in smb.conf. à no change
2. Change the value spnego to ‘no’ in smb.conf. à no change
I really don’t know what to try anymore. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Note:
- For connecting the pda to Windows shares I use resco explorer 2005 v5.21.
- Connecting to native Windows shares with the pda is no problem.
- Connecting to the samba shares with a Windows box is no problem.
- The samba server runs on Suse10.0 with kernel 2.6.13-15.8-default.
