hellu nubee here,
pls i want to perform ingress shaping with the IMQ device on my linuxbox with redhat 9.0. i hav gotten the kernel source for 2.4.21 and want to patch against that kernel instead of the default 2.4.20 that comes with the redhat 9.0 distro.
from the imq site http://trash.net/~kaber/imq/faq.html
it says that i need two things.
1. the IMQ patch wch will be patched into the 2.4.21 kernel (imq2- 2.4.21.diff) in this case
2. and the IPtables patch-o-matic (pom-imq.diff) or (pom-20030625.diff) am not sure wch one is itnow.
i have iptables 1.2.7a wch comes by default with the redhat distro.
first thing is that i want to know the correct patches i will need to get my kernel recompiled with the following options enabled:
Networking options ---> IP: Netfilter Configuration --->IMQ target support
Networking options ---> IPv6: Netfilter Configuration --->IMQ target support
Network device support --->IMQ (intermediate queueing device) support
and what procedure i would need to perform.
i have successfully enabled the last option for IMQ device support but that of target support is proving hard coz i think its a problem with the right patches and confusion from this iptables and patch-o-matic.
can i still use iptables 1.2.7a or change it entirely to something different like 1.2.6a or 1.2.8a and if i can still use the default 1.2.7a, how can i make it work?
