Playing Audio Files in amaroK through smb:/

Is it possible to play music files in amaroK when browsing through shares using smb:/? I found an article in the following link.

http://dot.kde.org/1096390465/

It says you can play it straight from smb:/ but I've used several versions of amaroK and all that happens is amaroK crashing whenever I try to play any file this way.

this is one of the most-frequently-asked questions; how does one go about playing audio over samba?

i'm not the techie guru type to explain the whytos and wherefores, but, apparently, the samba protocol doesn't support audio, nor, I presume, video.

hence, you must mount the samba share, and then everything's hunky dory....

cheers,

I know it can be done by mounting the share. This article however says you can "play from your Samba share with smb:/." Is it possible and if so, how?
