ping blocked IP


mandrake 10.0
i have connected to internet by proxy server.
my DNS server IP is 10.1.1.2 and 10.1.1.1.
but they have blocked the pinging.
i have installed BIND./
i have running named.
but i did not query google.com. (#dig google.com)
server could not reached.

and how to get the service running in 10.1.1.2.

Have you changed your /etc/resolv.conf to point to your nameserver? Use something like (in /etc/resolv.conf)

nameserver 127.0.0.1
Replace the IP address with a right one.

Now I don't fully understand which machine's running bind: yours or 10.1.1.2. The command to start bind is (in both cases) one of the four:

service named start
service bind start
service bind9 start
service bind8 start
Don't remember how it's called in MDK 10.0.

10.1.1.2:http may be your proxy.
