Be sure the permissions of the file are set to 644.

Permissions should be
-rw-r--r--

I assume that you have setup the httpd config files to load the php modules and the directoryindex for php.

I can't say for everyone but it doesn't for me.

A blank page can also be due to php programming errors. Check the logs to find out.

i just upgraded from 4.3 to 5.0.3 and am having the same problem. pages that loaded in php4 render nothing in php5. i have no idea why. here's my config line:
Code:
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/php5 --with-zlib --with-pear=/usr/share/pear
--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --includedir=/usr/include --without-sqlite --disable-cgi
--with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs --with-freetype-dir=/usr/include/freetype2
--enable-gd-native-tt --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local/lib --with-png-dir=/usr/local/lib
--with-xpm-dir=/usr/local/lib --with-gd
for some reason, no matter what i put in there, it has to have the zlib. dunno why
