Question Patch iptables with imq support in Ubuntu

I have patched imq and recompiled my kernel and I need to patch iptables to have imq support according to the instructions from I have the iptables source patched with iptables-1.2.9-imq1.diff sitting in the /usr/src directory. Can anybody kindly show me how to compile the patch to get imq support? My kernel source is 2.6.17 and the version of iptables is iptables-
