Password expiration

How do I configure all my logins to expired on a specific date?

Scenario:-

I accessed my Linux server via a Win9x workstation. I would like to have a password expiry warning msg pops-up on my screen whenever my password expired.

I've tried this by enabling password expiration and the number of days before it allow change & warning but somehow on this X day (password expiry day), key-in the password and it stills allow to login without prompting any expiry warning.

Perhaps I could be wrong on my settings, pls help!!!!

use the -e option on passwd, usermod, useradd and a bunch of other relevant programs.
