Parental restriction over kids surfing the net

[Log in to get rid of this advertisement]
Hi all,

Anyone know how to restrict web access when kids are surfing the web (either using Linux or Windows for surfing) ? Setup is kids' computer getting access through WiFi from a Linksys router. There are two other computers that can be used, one of them is also Wifi, the other has a direct network link to the same router.

If you have another machine running (or even just on that one machine your kids use), http://www.dansguardian.org/ is ideal and not all that complicated to setup in order to provide decent content filtering. It also allows yourself unfiltered accessed, whilst maintaining different lists for your kids. I don't know of anything similar to NetNanny under Windows in terms of an app that could sit on the machine your kids use, but DansGuardian isn't all that hard to configure.

Check the Firefox Plugins page - there is a plugin to block unsafe sites.
