Optimizing the Iptables

I am working on optimizing the iptables. I came across some way of optimizing the rules by removing the redundant rules and merging the rules .

Is there any other way to increase the optimization of iptables ?
The network that we applied the iptables is a simple LAN network. (College Network)

Presumably, optimising your iptables ruleset, rather than tinkering with the internal structure of iptables itself.

Well, if you want to get a comment on what to do in addition to the things that you have read in some article, wouldn't it be sensible to tell us what the article is, by, perhaps, posting a link?

So far, you haven't said anything about the requirements of your network that could give us clues there, nor your security situation, nor even on which machine you are intending these rules to run, so you can't be expecting specific advice.

So, in general, short, stubby, chains.
