Question Openvpn Samba file locks

Friends--

Have gotten my openvpn network up and running between a remote worker and the server here. However, neither side can see the file locks of the other on LibreOffice files. Have not tested it with other kinds of files.

Server: Ubuntu 12.04.2
Client: Lubuntu 12.04.2
Samba version: 3.6.3
Openvpn version: 2.2.1
LibreOffice version: 3.5.4.2

It's been years since I last set up the smb.conf files--everything has been working (have not had a vpn connection in recent years). Back then I found it a task to find the correct combination of locks and oplocks and such, and have forgotten all I knew.

Any suggestions on how to fix this or at least trouble-shoot it?

Thanks!
