openVPN...
can any one help me to configure openVPN...
the scenario as follows .... users can connect their office n/w from their home. which one i va to cnfgr : routed vpn or bridged?? |
It sounds like you'll want a bridged connection. I imagine that you want people working from home to have it feel just like they're in the office? If so, a bridged VPN is what you want.

hi .... can u explain the wrkg of bridged/routed vpn i read the openvpn doc but its confusing.... please ......... rgds...lakshminarayan |
The one big practical difference is that with a bridged VPN, broadcast packets are relayed over the network (between virtual clients and physical clients). This makes it better for use with protocols that heavily employ broadcasts (such as SMB without WINS).
A routed VPN (the bridge is still routed but just in a different way) will achieve some sort of separation of subnets. Machines in different subnet should be able to communicate fine (except with local broadcasts). Both options are like you're on the network itself, but only a bridge makes you feel like your on the same switch. |
