OpenSuSE - Sudden Internet Death

Hi,

I have a dual boot system running WinXp and OpenSuSE. I connect to the internet through a cable modem, and all was working fine until yesterday evening. From last night, I am unable to access the net when on SuSE, whereas things are fine on WinXP.

I am using a Motorola SB5100 Surfboard cable modem (into which the cable goes), and connect the modem to my computer using a LAN cable. I was able to connect to the net all this while by just plugging in the LAN cable in my ethernet slot.

Could anyone help? I am newbie, and have no clue what is happening. SuSE had auto-detected everything during installation, but now has decided to act weird sad.gif

Thanks for all the help.

It sounds like your network configuration has messed itself up. Try going into YaST, Network Card Configuration, and letting the system run through re-configuring it, then try connecting again. Failing that, go to Konsole, and type in 'ifconfig' as root and paste the output back on here.
