opening remove video file problem


hello guys,

please enligten me. i tried to view video files from my other computer. i tried using totem, vlc and mplayer yet it says it cant open it. but copied the file to my local machine, i can open and watch the video well from my local machine with the same video file. what am i missing here? hope you can help me resolve this. thanks all.
