Hi guys! I have alot of open ports. I just scanned myself with nmap. How do I close them? I'm using IPTABLES on Fedore Core 2.

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/

That should be covered in the security docs.

Also you will have alot more open ports if you scan yourself from your own machine, localhost.
Did you use nmap locally or from another host?

I scanned it locally, on my own computer.

I can't do any of these commands... whenever I type IPCONFIG in the terminal, it says not a valid command!

It's ifconfig. And you have to be root, to become root use "su -".

There are 2 issues: closing ports that you don't need open, and blocking ports that you do use on the network from outsiders who shouldn't be accessing them. The former is done by figuring out which apps/processes use them and shutting them down (and stopping them from restarting on system startup), and the latter by configuring a firewall. You may also have to edit /etc/inetd.conf to comment out its unnecessary services.
