Only root can connect to the internet

I use Red Hat 9.0 and was able to setup the networking configuration for
the internet using the GUI. Problem is that only root can connect to the internet.
and then the users are able to use it. But if i restart my machine, and login as a
user, i can't connect to the net using System Settings->Network

I know its a permissions problem (i think) but i dunno how to fix it
anyone can help? (would be appreciated)

Hi

There is a gui you can use in Red Hat which you can start with /usr/sbin/redhat-config-network-gui (run as root) and you can select an option to allow users other than root activate your network device. You need to edit the device you have configured and the option is in the next pop up box you get.

I'm not sure how you're connecting so I don't know if this is relevant to you but it's maybe worth a go. I'm sure there's a file(s) somewhere you can edit but off the top of my head I don't know what it is - sorry!

Good luck!

Actually that's what i use to connect. And just now that you mentioned it I noticed that there
is an option for all users to be able to connect. I have also checked "Activate when computer starts"
so it connects right away. I'm a very very newbie to Linux. And I'm trying to use the GUI's as most
as i can cause i don't know any commands.

But thanks.
