onboard network card and rhel 4

my onboard network card stopped working with rhel 4. I try to activate it in the network configuration tool and it just says failed. It is an nforce 4 motherboard. I copied the nvidia driver to the computer from my usb stick and ran that installer but it doesn't help. I even changed the modprobe.conf file and it still won't get an ip address. I think its just a driver thing becuase it worked before, and I can boot into knoppix and it works fine.

I think it might have happened when I did the up2date the last time. Is it possible that it downloaded the wrong driver and installed it? If so how do I uninstall that one?

nevermind, I'm retarded, as is this computer.

Apparently, when I switched from knoppix back to rhel, this motherboard doesn't like being only shutdown. I had to unplug the power cord for 15 seconds, booted up and it worked fine.
