Odd network problem

Hi all,

This is my first post so please be gentle.

I have a Debian server on the internet and its an odd problem since a reboot.

First it wasn't reachable at all. Problem was there was no driver installed for the nics.

insmod e1000.ko did the trick

now i can ping it, ssh to it, and the websites are available again.

but when i want to ping a website (google) or another server, i get "ping: unknown host ***"

also "apt-get update" fails ("Could not resolve .....")

It's not behind a firewall at the moment, because it wasn't reachable behind it. While other server, which use the same firewall rule, were reachable. This is very strange imho.

Does somebody know anything i could check. Maybe a setting or driver.

I'm actually a noob when linux is involved.

Greets,
Marcel.

Sounds like a DNS issue...check /etc/resolv.conf to make sure it has the correct nameservers.
