Hi all.

I have noticed a lot of posts regarding NTLM authentication with wget and proxies. The main problem being that if your proxy server is NTLM you can't get out using wget or emerge.

Is there anyone out there that knows NTLM enough to be able to help?

If you set your browser proxy you can get out to the internet no problem. However wget doesn't work.

There is an authentication package called ntlmaps which get be installed but I can't figure out how to set it up. The page doesn't give much info

This is a python program that I have used for a similar purpose. You must have python installed (which is likely on Mac OS X or a modern Linux). For Windows, you may need to install python first.

Then you edit the config file and enter the login, domain, and password. You also set the proxt that this proxy will point to.
Finally, you run it with the command:
(or whatever the main [.py] file is-- been a while, I forget).
It should start running and listening on a local port (like 5865). You set your wget proxy to use localhost:5865 instead of the normal proxy (I think you export HTTP_PROXY=http://localhost:5865).

i carefully set evertying, but still it gives me 407 error.

The python program should generate a log. Anything in there give you any clues?
