Novell and SUSE

I'm trying to get into our Novell network using SUSE. Wondering if I need the Novell Linux client to get in. Or if I can get in without it. Also do I need to activated ipx? If there is a tutorial on this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

um, what is it you want to do once you *get in* (print, use netware services, save files, access service gateways...) ?

Access my files, printing just your basic services. I can access with my laptop (windows). I'm trying Linux and just want to be able to use my school documents (grades, teacher things). Found out there is no client software for Linux (Novell client) so I image I'll have to do it though Linux.

Anyone??

Check sourceforge for the Nowell client. It works pretty good. It will log you in and mount one netware server at a time. Works for me.. :-)

That's it... Thanks :p

Hi..

Read IPX Howto..

First u have to enable IPX stake in network Card

then u can use ncpmount command to mount Novell Shares

I explained this in the other thread you hijacked asking this same question. I also answered your question there.

In the future, start your own questions in their own thread, do not hijack others threads asking questions.

Thanks.

Strange!

FYI, if your Novell Netware server has "native file access" enabled (in recent versions) you can actually reach the server file system using NFS or SMB. No need for IPX and no need for a Novell client in that case.
