I have setup my linux box as an FTP server and im using vsftpd as my ftp daemon. I'd like to configure it so that I'll be notified thru email whenever there is a succesful upload. Is there any way that I can do this? thanks
You can keep a log of uploads and downloads but You'll have to use a cron job to email them to you.
Code:
xferlog_enable
If enabled, a log file will be maintained detailling uploads and
downloads. By default, this file will be placed at
/var/log/vsftpd.log, but this location may be overridden using
the configuration setting vsftpd_log_file.
Good point, /bin/bash. Any suggestions on the best way to handle this? I'd like to do exactly the same thing (was looking at File Alteration Monitor, which was a bit overkill). A cron job is a lot more manageable, but how do you ensure it's checking frequently but not sending multiple e-mails for each upload?
